Swain Sprinters Bring 122 Participants and Over $4,400 in Support to Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk
If you were at Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk this year, there’s no way you missed the incredible presence of the Swain Sprinters from Moravian Academy’s Swain Campus!
The Swain Sprinters showed up with a team of 122 participants — including 51 student runners and walkers — bringing amazing energy, teamwork, and support to the event. Their dedication to the Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation (PCCF) continues to inspire us year after year.
About a week before event day, Steve Cygan and Jessica Stubits of PCCF had the opportunity to visit the team during their annual purple dress-down day and bake sale fundraiser. It’s become one of our favorite traditions surrounding Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk — a chance to personally thank the students and coaches, families, and supporters for everything they do to help move pancreatic cancer research forward.
This year, the team’s purple dress-down day and bake sale raised an incredible $2,280, and overall, the Swain Sprinters raised a total of $4,472 through Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk and additional donations supporting pancreatic cancer research.
During the visit, we spent time talking with the students and answering questions about pancreatic cancer and the mission of PCCF. What always stands out is how thoughtful and engaged these students are. They ask incredibly insightful questions and genuinely want to learn more about the cause they are supporting — we could easily see a few future doctors and researchers in this crew! And according to coaches Jeffrey Haviland, Allison Haas, and Heather Manning, this is also a group that truly loves to run — so much so that they even ask for extra running drills!
One of the most meaningful parts of this partnership has been having the privilege to watch so many of these students grow up over the years — from young children into bright, thoughtful young adults. Their compassion, enthusiasm, and commitment to helping others continues to leave a lasting impression on all of us at PCCF.
We are so grateful for the continued partnership, enthusiasm, and heart of the Swain Sprinters. Thank you for making such a huge impact at this year’s Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk and for helping us bring hope to families affected by pancreatic cancer.

Donations for Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk are still being accepted through June 14, so there is still time to support the event and help fund pancreatic cancer research and patient programs through PCCF.

About Swain Sprinters
Swain Sprinters is a coed running group for 3rd to 8th graders at the Moravian Academy Swain Campus. Going into their 9th year, they have been able to raise over $14,000 for the Pancreatic Cancer Cure Foundation.
Swain Sprinters isn’t just about running, it’s about building confidence, respect, and being a good teammate. At every practice, our runners grow not only in their physical ability but also in character, as they support each other and work toward a shared goal: participating in Amy’s Ride/Run/Walk 5K, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research.
